A prospering and stable Rwanda is the vision of its people. Making this vision come true calls for transforming the country from a subsistence agriculture economy into a knowledge-based, IT literate society.
GIS makes a difference in society: it connects our many cultures and societies and influences our way of life. It leverages geographic insights to ensure better communication and collaboration.
Esri has been supporting GIS projects in Rwanda for many years, partnering with various ministries, the National University of Rwanda (NUR), and the Kigali Institute of Technology (KIST). On August 19, 2010, Esri established a local company serving the users of Esri products locally in Kigali. Since then it has been the official and only distributor for all Esri products and related services in Rwanda, Burundi, and – since 2012 – the Republic of Congo.
Geography and GIS matter to development in general and thus to Rwanda’s Vision 2020. Esri Rwanda Ltd. is ready to help to make a difference.
